BlueCross BlueShield (BCBS) Coverage Availability & Fees

BlueCross BlueShield (BCBS) is a trusted provider of dental plans for families and individuals. Paying your premiums gives you access to comprehensive benefits designed to keep your mouth healthy to stop common dental issues from occurring, like cavities and gum disease. By doing so, you’re less likely to need costly treatment later to save money down the road. Research has found that $1 spent on preventive dentistry can save $50 on restorative and emergency fees. If a problem occurs, like tooth decay, BlueCross BlueShield (BCBS) is there for you. They’ll pay a portion of the cost after meeting your deductible. Although every plan differs, most policies include:

  • 100% coverage for preventive services
  • 80% coverage for minor restorative services
  • 50% coverage for major restorative services

BlueCross BlueShield (BCBS) recommends visiting a dentist in their network to enjoy more coverage at the time of services. They have pre-negotiated rates with specific dental practices to lower the out-of-pocket expenses for their policyholders. However, you can still visit an out-of-network dentist. You can use your coverage, but you’ll have to pay the difference between your policy’s allowable amount and the office fees. We proudly accept both in-network and out-of-network patients.

You can visit your dentist every 6 months for a cleaning and checkup after a co-payment. You’ll benefit from a variety of preventive services to keep your mouth healthy, like diagnostic imaging and oral cancer screenings. If you require any treatment, you can use your annual allowance to lower the amount you’ll pay.

At the end of the calendar year, your dental benefits will reset. On average, less than 3% of Americans meet their annual limits. You won’t be reimbursed for your premiums or deductible if you don’t use all your coverage, and nothing will accumulate.

We don’t want to see you throw money away. We will help you maximize your annual benefits through personalized care.
